Paying for COLLEGE with scholarships

a three-part series presented by Office Hours with Becca

1. Introduction to Scholarships

Before you dive into the many scholarship books, YouTube tutorials, and spam-heavy databases that are out there, attend this introduction to scholarships for college.

In this presentation, Becca demystifies the complex network and application processes related to scholarships for college and prepares you for the tuition ahead.

Attendees learn why merit and community-based scholarships are so hard to navigate, how to approach the search process, and what the realistic timeline looks like if you or your student plans to enroll in the Fall.

2. Finding Scholarships that Fit

Orienting participants around unique aspects of themselves as individuals, students, and community members, Becca walks through the development of customized search terms.

To unveil the complications of personal bias and online searches, Becca teaches a thoughtful strategy for digging through the internet. She conducts live searches based on audience queries.

Participants leave this workshop with a categorized list of search terms, a 3 step-process for searching, and a better sense of how public institutions, private donors, and large orgs. advertise scholarship opportunities.

3. Developing Unique Essays

Is writing another essay really worth your time?

Yes. With each iteration, your materials get stronger.

Join this interactive workshop and develop a series of interchangeable written “modules” that can be modified to address the most popular aspects of multiple scholarship essay prompts.

Participants learn to identify and analyze 3 typical varieties of the scholarship essay prompt. Becca provides parameters for developing useful modules and clarifies the most relevant content, details, and facts that must be incorporated within strong essays.
